Dr. Farris was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated as "Boy of the Year" as part of a senior class of well over 700 students in 1969 from Will Rogers High School with numerous scholastic and academic awards and honors. He went on to attend The University of Tulsa under scholarship where he received the Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he was awarded the Master of Science degree in 1974. While at Oklahoma State University he was selected and honored to become a lifetime member of the "Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society" as a result of his academic performance. He was then accepted as one of only 5 contract students from Oklahoma to attend The University of Houston College of Optometry where he graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree as part of an accelerated program 6 months early in December, 1977. He was licensed to practice by the Oklahoma Board of Optometry in early 1978 and started private practice in Tulsa. As a result of annual continuing education courses, he continues to provide up-to-date extensive primary diagnostic and therapeutic family vision care and counseling - as well as the latest spectacle and contact lens services and materials. His practice has become very successful and continually grew through the years as a direct result of the "old-school approach" of honest hard work, thorough professional patient care and the resulting "word-of-mouth" referrals by satisfied patients. He is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. Dr. Farris is an affiliate doctor and works with numerous other Tulsa area physicians including those at N'Joy Vision, TLC Laser Center, Triad Eye Medical Clinic, Oklahoma Medical Eye Group ("OMEG") and many other health care professionals in providing counseling and co-management care for patients.
